HOW WE WORK
Advocacy Work
We bring our work as appropriate to the attention of the UN, UN Member States and grassroots colleagues by;
-
Making statements at UN conferences;
-
Meeting with individual delegates who are relevant to our work;
-
Writing documents and policy papers with the inputs of grassroots organizations;
-
Offering side events at UN conferences to promote our vision and objectives;
-
Creating joint and individual initiatives. For instance, although we are autonomous, we function as a special Cluster within the NGO Major Group and also cooperate, where possible, with other UN Major Groups.
-
Some examples of our work: Videos on Lobbying for Beginners (Part 01 and Part 02)
Working directly with the UN itself
We give our input to UN policy documents, such as Declarations by Ministers and Heads of State and Government.
Our Steering Group
We are in the process of building a Steering Group which is preparing the papers for the upcoming conferences. Their task is to together develop the concept and practice of unity building so that our input becomes as focused and effective as possible. In addition, we realize that we can use the processes we begin to master both in our own lives and organizational work.
Our programme for 2024
At the December 2023, strategy meeting, the course was set for 2024.
The objective: To foster unity within the UN context wherever possible, by honing our own skills in the context of the steering group.
Conferences we are focusing on include
The Conference for Social Development; the UNEA 6; The Commission on the Status of Women; The Civil Society Conference in Nairobi, The High-Level Political Forum; and as many activities as possible relating to the Conference for the Future, where the Pact is to be discussed.
